The difference between ultra clear glass and clear glass
1.Characteristics of ultra clear glass
Ultra clear glass, also known as high transparent glass and low iron glass, is a kind of ultra-transparent low iron glass. How high is its light transmittance? The transmittance of ultra clear glass can reach more than 91.5%, which has the characteristics of high-grade elegance and crystal clarity. Therefore, it is called the "crystal prince" in the glass family, and the ultra clear glass has excellent mechanical, physical and optical properties, which is beyond the reach of other glass.
At the same time, the ultra clear glass has all the machinability of high-quality float glass, so it can be processed in a variety of ways like other float glass. This superior product performance and quality make ultra clear glass have broad application space and advanced market prospects.
2.Application of ultra clear glass
In foreign countries, ultra clear glass is mainly used in high-end buildings, high-end glass processing and solar photovoltaic curtain wall fields, as well as high-end glass furniture, decorative glass, imitation crystal products, lamp glass, precision electronic industries (copiers, scanners), special buildings, etc.
In China, the application of ultra clear glass is expanding rapidly, and the application of ultra clear glass in high-end buildings and special buildings has opened up, such as the Beijing National Theatre, Beijing Botanical Garden, Shanghai Opera House, Shanghai Pudong Airport, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, Nanjing China Art Center, and more than 100 projects have applied ultra clear glass. Ultra clear glass is also widely used in high-end furniture and high-grade decorative lamps. At the furniture and processing machinery exhibition held in Beijing, many glass furniture choose ultra clear glass.
3. Difference between ultra clear glass and clear glass:
(1)Different iron content
The main difference between the transparency of ordinary transparent glass and ultra-white glass is the content of iron oxide (Fe2O3). The content of ordinary transparent glass is more than that of ultra-white glass.
(2) Different light transmittance
Due to the different iron content, the light transmittance is also different.
The transmittance of clear glass is about 86%; Ultra clear glass is a kind of ultra-transparent low-iron glass, also known as low-iron glass and high-transparent glass. The light transmittance can reach more than 91.5%.
(3) The self-explosion rate of glass is different
Because the raw materials of ultra clear glass generally contain fewer impurities such as NiS, and the raw materials are finely controlled in the melting process, the ultra clear glass has a more uniform composition than clear glass, and its internal impurities are less, which greatly reduces the possibility of self-explosion after tempering.
(4)Color consistency different
Because the iron content in raw materials is only 1/10 or lower than that of clear glass, ultra clear glass has fewer absorption of the green band in visible light than clear glass, ensuring the consistency of glass color.
(5) Different technical content
Ultra-clear glass has relatively high technological content and is difficult to control in production. It has stronger profitability than clear glass. The high quality determines its high price. The price of ultra clear glass is 1~2 times that of clear glass. The cost is not much higher than that of clear glass, but the technical barrier is relatively high and has high added value.
